21st Century Breakdown (Break XXI century in Spanish) is the eighth studio album by American band Green Day. It is the second album of Rock Opera, after American Idiot, and the first to be produced by Butch Vig. The band began recording the album in January 2006.La writing and recording process spanned three years and four recording sessions and ending in April 2009.
Breakdown 21st Century was released by Reprise Records on May 15, 2009 and critics were generally favorable.
The album, despite being one, is divided into 3 acts: Heroes And Cons, Saints and Charlatans And Horseshoes And Handgrenades.
